What are the benefits of eating healthy?

What are the benefits of eating healthy?

Children learn most health-related behaviours from the adults around them, and parents who model healthful eating and exercise habits tend to pass these on.
A healthful diet includes a variety of fruits and vegetables of many colours, whole grains and starches, good fats, and lean proteins.
A diet with adequate calcium and magnesium is necessary for strong bones and teeth. Keeping the bones healthy is vital in preventing osteoporosis and osteoarthritis later in life.
The following foods are rich in calcium:
  • low-fat dairy products
  • broccoli
  • goat cheese
  • pumpkin
  • fruits
  • salad

Lunch

Chicken in sun-dried tomatoes sauce, asparagus and buckwheat

I can't get enough of creamy, tangy sauces right now. Indulgent and tasty, and although protein dish, there are still loads of nutritious goodies in there.

Snack 2

Pumpkin creamy soup with seeds

Pumpkin is high in dietary fibre which helps keep you fuller as well as being low in calories; a perfect combination to help us shed those extra pounds. Pumpkins are full of Vitamin A which is great for our eyesight. As well as supporting vision, Vitamin A helps the immune system and promotes healthy looking skin too!
